Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr is set to break new ground in her career as she takes on her first acting role in Hollywood. The chart-topping artist has been cast in the film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, the acclaimed fantasy novel by Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi.
She joins an elite lineup of international stars, including Viola Davis, Idris Elba, and Cynthia Erivo, in the movie that brings West African-inspired magic and mythology to life.

In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, Ayra spoke about the challenges and excitement of transitioning from music to acting. She admitted that working on a movie set was a major shift from the fast-paced world of performing.
“This is my very first movie role. I’m used to the flexibility that comes with being a singer, but acting requires a lot more structure. You have to be on time, stay focused, and work as part of a larger team,” she said.
Although initially hesitant due to her shy nature, Ayra said her passion for storytelling and the arts gave her the courage to accept the role.
“I’ve always been drawn to the creative world, not just music. Acting was something I dreamed of, even though I used to be too shy to try it,” she revealed.
Ayra expressed deep admiration for her co-stars and credited both the veteran actors and younger performers on set for inspiring her.
“Being around such talented people was eye-opening. I learned so much, not just from the legends, but even from the teenagers on set. Their dedication really pushed me to grow.”
With this new venture, Ayra Starr is not only expanding her artistic reach but also making a strong impression in the film industry. Her journey from music to movies is a testament to her versatility and creative ambition.
